In an attempt to step up focus on good governance and development in the BJP-ruled States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address BJP Chief Ministers, senior Union Ministers and top party leaders here on Sunday at Party headquarters.
BJP president Amit Shah will also deliberate with the leaders, who will include 13 Chief Ministers and 5 Deputy Chief Ministers.
The meeting assumes significance in the run-up to upcoming Assembly polls, including that in Gujarat, and lok Sabha polls in 2019. The party does not seek to rest on its laurels which it won in UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur polls and would rather like to look ahead in future, consolidating its political expansion.
In Sunday’s meet, Modi will exhort the Chief Ministers and all the leaders to focus on the development agenda with an emphasis on the poor sections of the society, said party general secretary Bhupender Yadav.
A similar meeting was held last year, an exercise started by Shah to ensure that all party-run governments follow a common agenda and focus on implementation of central schemes.
On the same day, all the 13 Chief Ministers will take part in the Niti Aayog meeting in the national Capital.
In the National Executive meeting in Bhubaneshwar, Modi asked party workers and leaders not to be complacent after the poll victories and rather set their eyes on taking “a long jump” in history and “march with speed” and “ change history”. “Vijay ke baad unmad nahin hona chahiye aur jeet ko vinamrata se sweekar karna hain,” he said.
Modi focused on developing ‘Jan Dhan’ (bank accounts, wealth for poor), Rs Van Dhan’ (tribals, forests, environment etc), Rs Jal Dhan’ (irrigation, drinking water, water recharge, use of sea water) for all-encompassing development of the country.
