Gomes is AAP's CM face in Goa

AAP co-founder Arvind Kejriwal on Monday named, a “dry honest officer” Elvis Gomes, a bureaucrat with over 20 years of experience in the State administration, as the party’s Chief Minister candidate in the forthcoming State assembly elections.

Kejriwal, who was addressing a party rally in Cuncolim legislative Assembly, located 45 kms south of Panaji, said that it was time that the people of Goa decide to elect common people to the State legislative Assembly, instead of politicians and leaders from the Congress and the BJP, who the Delhi Chief Minister said, had repeatedly let the State and its people down.

“But there is a diamond in all these candidates. It is Elvis Gomes. The whole of Goa knows. When a person who had never got a chance to indulge in corruption, says I am honest, that is not right. Elvis has been in Goa administration for 20 years. He could have made crores of rupees... He did not make a single paise. He is a dead honest officer,” Kejriwal said.

“Today before you, I am bringing forward a proposal. I propose Elvis Gomes as the next chief minister of Goa,” Kejriwal told the AAP meeting.

53-year old Gomes, who joined the AAP in October, soon after retiring from Government service was posted as Inspector General of Prisons. He is likely to contest from the Cuncolim legislative Assembly seat, in South Goa.
