Golflinks Software Park, Minister refute IT survey-Govt project link

Golflinks Software Park Private Limited has issued a formal clarification in response to what it describes as misleading media reports associating a recent Income Tax survey at its premises with unrelated Government matters. The company emphasized that the survey, conducted between July 28 and July 30, 2025, was a routine regulatory exercise under Section 133A of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and bore no connection to public officials, Government contracts, or the Smart Meter Initiative. In statement, Golflinks stated, “Any attempt to associate the aforementioned Income Tax survey with alleged claims involving public officials, BESCOM contracts, or smart meter-related matters is legally untenable, entirely baseless, and factually incorrect.”

The company reiterated its commitment to regulatory compliance, transparency, and sound corporate governance. All statutory filings, including income tax returns, have been submitted accurately and on time, it said, adding that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against any entity propagating false or defamatory information.

Karnataka’s Energy Minister KJ George, who also chairs companies mentioned in some reports, posted an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), categorically rejecting the alleged links.

“In view of the misinformation being circulated regarding myself and the companies under my chairmanship, purportedly in connection with the #SmartMeterInitiative and the #EnergyDepartment of the Government of Karnataka, we wish to issue the following clarification. The recent interaction with the #IncomeTax Department was a routine regulatory exercise solely pertaining to the verification of our companies’ income tax filings. There is no connection whatsoever to any Government project or department, including the #SmartMeter program or the #EnergyDepartment.”

He further urged the public and media to refrain from endorsing or circulating baseless allegations, stating that his companies fully cooperated with the authorities and remain committed to lawful compliance.

Both Golflinks Software Park and Minister George have described the current situation as one driven by speculation and misinformation. Their public responses serve as firm denials of any wrongdoing and a warning against the spread of unsubstantiated narratives that could damage reputations and mislead the public.
