A bruised and battered Goa Congress party has decided to ensure that it sets up its own TV channel or has its own ‘mouthpiece’ among the established papers in the State. Addressing mediapersons after a meeting of the think tank called a ‘Chintan Shivir’, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president luizinho Faleiro said that this was a strategy to ensure that the party’s views are known to the people.
“Goa has many newspapers which can be established as the mouthpiece of Goa. Congress will endeavour to start its own bulletin also,” a document they released after the meeting called the Dona Paula declaration said. “GPCC will make efforts to have its own channel or acquire some time slots in local channels,” the statement reads.
The ‘Chintan Shivir’ was presided over by Goa desk in-charge Digvijay Singh who also highlighted how the media is increasingly commercialised and how the “triangular nexus of media houses, corporate houses and some politicians needs to be exposed.” The party’s document also lays stress on social media.
“GPCC will facilitate a common platform to exchange information, beginning with the relaunching of the GPCC website with updated information and technical enhancements.
