Goa CM laxmikant Parsekar warned of action against foreigners on tourist visas undertaking businesses in India and said that his administration would act against the practise. “Two squads have been formed to crackdown on such activity. I have instructed the IGP (Inspector General of Police) about this,” Parsekar said.
local entrepreneurs including beach shack owners, tourits taxi drivers and tourist guides have for long been complaining that foreigners especially those of tourist visas have been illegally operating and robbing them of their business. Several arrests have been made mostly of Russians which the Russian consul General has said was only a miniscule proportion of the huge number of ‘good tourists’ in the State.
