In a historic achievement for the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), the results for the 2025 High School and Intermediate board examinations were declared on Friday — just 43 days after the final paper was conducted. This swift declaration marks one of the fastest result turnarounds in the state’s educational history.
The overall pass percentage for High School students stood at 90.11 per cent, while Intermediate students registered a pass rate of 81.15 per cent. Once again, girls have outperformed boys in both categories, continuing a consistent trend over recent years. In High School, girls surpassed boys by a margin of 7.21 per cent, and in Intermediate, the gap widened to 9.77 per cent.
In terms of individual performance, Yash Pratap Singh of Late Raskendri Devi Inter College, Umri (Jalaun district), topped the High School exam with an impressive 97.83 per cent score. In Intermediate, the top position was secured by Mehak Jaiswal of Bacha Ram Yadav Inter College, Bhulai Ka Pura (Prayagraj district), who scored 97.20 per cent.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated all successful students and lauded the efforts of the education department. “The prompt and transparent result declaration is a testament to the state’s commitment to educational excellence,” the Chief Minister said in a statement, adding that the students’ achievements would inspire many others across the state.
The results were announced by Director of Secondary Education Mahendra Dev and UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh, who highlighted the extensive planning and technological integration behind this year’s exams. The examinations were conducted between February 24 and March 12 across 8,140 centres. Answer sheets were evaluated from March 19 to April 2 at 261 designated centres, where 92,594 teachers assessed High School papers and 56,066 evaluated Intermediate scripts. Officials credited CM Yogi’s directives for ensuring a smooth, fair, and cheating-free examination process. The practical exams for Intermediate students were held earlier in two phases from February 1 to 21.
A closer look at the numbers reveals that a total of 25,45,815 students appeared in the High School exams - 13,27,024 boys and 12,18,791 girls. Out of these, 22,94,122 students cleared the exam. In the Intermediate category, 25,98,560 students appeared, including 13,87,263 boys and 12,11,297 girls, with 21,08,774 passing the exam. In a noteworthy development, inmates from jails across the state also participated in the exams and recorded impressive results. Of the 94 inmates who appeared for the High School exam, 91 passed, registering a pass percentage of 96.81 per cent. Similarly, 105 inmates appeared for the Intermediate exam, with 91 successfully clearing it, resulting in a pass rate of 86.67 per cent.
The UP Board’s achievement in conducting and evaluating such a massive examination process in record time, while ensuring transparency and fairness, reflects the impact of administrative reforms and use of technology in the state’s education system.
