A dramatic sequence of events unfolded in Outer Delhi here on Friday evening when several PCR vans chased a car in which a girl was 'abducted' and finally rescued her after immobilising the car by shooting at its tyres.
However, the high-voltage chase ended into a somewhat damp squib after the two suspects, who had 'kidnapped' the girl, claimed that the 16-year-old girl was on of their's girlfriend. Police has detained the two youths and registered a case of abduction.
"The two accused, identified as Akshay and Nitin have been arrested. We will record the girl's statement before a magistrate on Saturday. We are verifying the statements of the accused. As they sped away after they saw police vehicles, there are reasons for us to suspect their intentions," said a senior police official.
