Falling in love with a boy belonging to Rs Dalit’ community proved fatal for a girl in Ferojabad when her family members eliminated her in the name of saving family honour.
Reports said that one Kiran, hailing from Nagla Natu hamlet of Sirsaganj area of Ferojabad, was in love with a dalit youth and wanted to marry him. However, her family members objected to her affair particularly as the boy belongs to lower community. The matter took an ugly turn when despite of her parent’s objection, the girl went ahead with her affair and even told her family members that she will marry the same boy and no one else.
Her father Munni lal and brother Prakash, who were agitated with her behaviour had finally made a plan to eliminate her in order to save family pride. On last Monday evening, the father and her brother took her out and brutally hacked her to death with a sharp edged weapons.
They later escaped from the spot. According to local police, one Sonkali, a resident of the same area was a witness to the brutal killing and he called the police after which a case has been registered by the police. local police said that few days back, the elder sister of the victim had lodged a fake case of molestation against the same dalit youth just to put pressure on him to end his affair.
Meanwhile in Muzaffarnagar, a complaint was registered against a teacher over charges of using casteist words against a Dalit student. The incident took place on Tuesday when the teacher allegedly used casteist words against the class 7th student and then asked her to sit in the last row, said SHO Kapil Kapervan. "The parents of the victim, who belonged to a Balmiki community, have registered a complaint against the teacher," Kapervan said. Meanwhile, the teacher categorically denied the allegations and demanded a fair probe before going ahead with any action.
