Controversies seem to be haunting Bihar BJP leader Giriraj Singh more often than not these days as once again he courted it asking why all the terrorists were from one particular communityIJ Giriraj Singh recently got bail from Patna, Ranchi and Bokaro courts for his hate speech during poll campaigns.
“Is it not true that all the terrorists arrested belong to one particular communityIJ I’m not saying that all the people in that community are terrorists, but whoever is caught belongs to the same community,” said Giriraj Singh, while triggering another round of controversy. The blazing BJP leader is the party candidate from Nawada lok Sabha constituency.
Singh also posed question to the ‘so-called secular’ leaders of the country asking, “since terrorism is a matter relating to the country and not to a community, why secular leaders remain silent when all persons arrested in terrorism cases belong to a particular communityIJ” “This mindset is posing danger to the country,” he said while adding that this has been a naked example of pseudo-secularism and patronisation of a community for the purpose of vote-bank politics.
“Kuch log hain jo aatankwad parasht hain … jaise Pakistan nahi chahta hai, waise hi woh log bhi nahi chahte the ki Narendra Modi Bharat ke Pradhan Mantri bane,” said the lanky leader of the Bihar BJP, who is famously known for speaking his mind. While being a Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA Government in Bihar, Singh was the first leader who had strongly advocated for Narendra Modi as party’s PM pick.
“A terrorist is a terrorist … he has no religion, no caste. You can bring the NIA list of those who have been caught as terrorists and if they are found to be of one community, then why I cannot say that they are of one communityIJ” he asked.
He further explained that a terrorist belonging to any community would remain a terrorist and not a patriot. “Terrorist is a terrorist whether he is a Hindu or a Muslim,” he said. The Bihar BJP leader also made comments on the viability of Article 370 and advocated for public vote (jan-mat) on its continuity. “Our ancestors had incorporated it in our Constitution and at that time it was probably done for socio-economic welfare of the State, but today even after six decades Kashmir’s economic and social conditions has not improved.
“Moreover, the country is supreme and a referendum must be done on whether 370 is needed or not,” he suggested. While referring to a statement made by National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah that ‘those who vote for Modi should drown in the sea’, Giriraj said, “Farooqji, you have pledged over the Constitution and you are a Minister in Indian Government. Why your voice comes to a halt when Pakistan tears our flag and your Government watches quietly,” he asked.
Earlier during poll campaigns in Bihar and Jharkhand, separate FIRs had been lodged against Giriraj at Patna, Deoghar and Bokaro on the charge of making hate speeches. During poll campaign Singh had said that those who opposed Narendra Modi had no place in India and they should go to Pakistan. He later had to seek bail from the respective courts of Patna, Bokaro and Deoghar.
