Fiery BJP leader Giriraj Singh — who was to surrender before court to avoid his arrest for his alleged hate speech — applied for his anticipatory bail on Thursday. The court will hear his case on Friday but the BJP leader has now gone traceless.
The district judge, Virendra Kumar, has listed the matter for hearing on Friday said BJP leader’s younger brother Jairaj Singh. However, the party sources said that Giriraj might surrender before the district court on Friday either in Patna or Bokaro. “Right now he is consulting legal experts,” said a State BJP leader.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader, who has been reportedly isolated by his partymen in connection with the case against him for his inflammatory speech has become traceless. He has become unapproachable and his mobile phone is switched off from Thursday.
However, his brother confirms, “He is very much in Patna, I’m not aware about his whereabouts but he has not gone underground.
Earlier, on Thursday morning the Jharkhand police along with Bihar police had raided the ancestral house of Giriraj Singh in Barahiya in lakhisarai district but he was not found there.
“A team of Jharkhand Police raided his ancestral house early Thursday morning after a non-bailable warrant was issued by a Bokaro court but he was not found there too,” said Kundan Kumar Singh of Barahia police station.
The BJP leader, who is also the party’s candidate from Nawada constituency, was also not found at his official residence in Patna’s high-security zone. Meanwhile, Singh has sought an anticipatory bail in connection with a case lodged against him at Bokaro and also at the Patna airport police station on April 21 under provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1950 and the IPC.
The local court of Bokaro later issued a non-bailbale arrest warrant against the BJP leader on Wednesday and the Jharkhand police immediately constituted a police team to arrest Singh.
Following the arrest warrant against him, the BJP leader in Patna, said that he would surrender before court on Thursday either in Patna or Bokaro. The EC too has banned Giriraj from holding any election rally or roadshow in Bihar and Jharkhand over his controversial remarks. The poll panel also asked him to submit an explanation by April 24.
Singh, though, had said on Wednesday that he did not make any inflammatory speech and his statement need to be seen in holistic term while adding that he has not gone underground and of the police wanted they should arrest him anytime. “But, I’ll not run away and I’m also not Azam Khan who doesn’t respect law of the land,” Giriraj Singh said.
