Gender equality a distant dream in Western UP

Published on:

In West UP number of cases of female foeticide are noted. Also people are more worried about the male child instead of female child specially in the rural areas.

In Aligarh rural areas and Muslim populated areas, slums  girls are not getting nutritious food as compared to male child.  Here 62% girls are suffering from under nutrition problem.  That is why there is higher death rate of female child with in two years of delivery.  Though U.P. government has launched  several projects/schemes but parents do not pay proper attention to improve girls health.  Girls remaining alive being abandoned after birth are living under nutrition life.

Due to this they are prey to malnutrition.  It is verified during survey conducted recently  by NGO LATA and Mahila Bal Vikas committee to know the condition of malnutritioned babies. In a survey in the city 260 female child were found malnutritioned in comparison of 144 male children.

It will take time to be civilized for gender equality.
