Gandhi vs Gandhi in battle Karnataka

Published on:

The ruling BJP has fielded one Gandhi against another in the battle for supremacy. BJP’s Varun Gandhi has been pitted against his cousin and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in the ongoing high pitch war for May 5 Assembly elections.

It looks strategic as the BJP has roped in Varun to take on the Congress vice president who has been attacking the Karnataka Government on corruption.

However, in his second leg of election campaign in Karnataka on Friday Rahul sharpened his attack on the ruling BJP Government and called it the most corrupt Government in the world. During his whirlwind tour of Haveri, Tumkur and Mysore, Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on the BJP.

He accused the BJP of having created “a world record” in corruption. He said, “The BJP talked about corruption (subtly attacking BJP patriarch lK Advani who has been saying zero tolerance on corruption) but corruption in the State did not come to their attention.”

The Congress Team A member and star campaigner said, “The ruling BJP forgets about people’s welfare but was involved in mutual squabbles and its leaders fought for money. Do you need such a GovernmentIJ” Rahul Gandhi also accused the BJP of coming to power by using money from Bellary’s Reddy brothers.

Meanwhile, in his campaign Varun targeted the Congress-led Central Government and predicted an early polls to lok Sabha. In his election meetings in Mudbidri in Mangalore, he said the outcome of the Karnataka polls will have an impact on the general elections, and called for people to use their conscience before selecting their representatives. Varun also raised the issue the of UPA Government’s corruption.
