Gali Janardhan Reddy not disappointed with verdict

Former Minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy, one of the prominent reasons for BJP’s debacle in Karnataka elections, expressed satisfaction over the performance of the regional party launched by his man Friday B Sriramulu.

Janardhan Reddy, lodged in Hyderabad prison in connection with the mining scam, told the reporters that victory of the BSR Cogress party in four Assembly constituencies was a beginning. “A greater and brighter future awaits for B Sriramulu,” Reddy told the reporters when he was brought to the court on Thursday morning.

Sriramulu visited his mentor Gali Janardhan Reddy in jail and discussed the election results, specially the crushing defeat of the BJP. At the same time, Gali family’s hold over Bellary was also broken in this election as its supporters could not win the seats in the district which was seen as pocket borough of the family.

Reddy said that he was not disappointed with the election results. “I am confident that BSRCP will emerge as a big political force in the days to come and Sriramulu has a bright future”.

Political observers say that the one of the major reasons for the defeat of the BJP was division in its ranks as two of its leaders — former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and B Sriramulu backed by Gali family — launched their own regional parties and they ate in to the BJP’s vote bank.
