Gadkari spills reality in reality show: Rahul

Congress on Tuesday got an opportunity to attack Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for the second time in recent months for his virtual admission of tall promises by BJP in run up to the 2014 general elections.

Gadkari in a TV show in Marathi, admitted that the BJP made tall promises ahead of Lok Sabha elections in 2014.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi was quick to share the video of the feature which also had Bollywood actor Nana Patekar in the show. Gadkari is heard saying that the BJP was sure that they would not be able to come to power...."So our people suggested to make tall promises. If we do not come to power, we would not be responsible anyways. Now the problem is that people have voted us to power." Following this Gadkari and Patekar also share lighter moments on this statement.

"Now people remind us of our promises...we just laugh and move on," the Minister says.

Further in a different question, Gadkari also admitted that there is a need for the BJP to be more open and transparent.

Earlier in August this year, Gadkari received praise by the Gandhi scion which, however, was filled with sarcasm.

Reacting to a news report then, Rahul posted that the quote was correct. He was  replying to questions on the Maratha agitation for job quota: "Where are the jobs?"

Rahul Gandhi tweeted: "Excellent question, Gadkariji".

"Let us assume the reservation is given. But there are no jobs. Because in banks, the jobs have shrunk because of IT (information technology). The Government recruitment is frozen. Where are the jobs?" Gadkari had asked, responding to reporters' questions.
