Hours before Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari was to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he attacked the ruling Trinamool Congress for following in the footsteps of the Congress and left causing the State to lag far behind others in terms of development.

Insisting that the Trinamool Government was aping the Congress and the left in playing politics of caste and religion he said instead of doing so “they should take part in politics of development like it has been in the BJP ruled States of Gujarat and MP.”

He said though the Centre was eager to help out Bengal the State was not coming forward take that opportunity. Insisting that a time had come when the people of Bengal decided as to what type of Government they needed, Gadkari said, “there is no development in Bengal, youth are wandering jobless as there is no industry,” adding Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted Bengal to take the path of development. “We want to help the State out” but here the Government would have to take recourse to politics of development and not politics of caste and religion he said.

He also urged the people to decide on their future course of action. “Time has come when you must decide whether you want politics of development like Gujarat and MP or some other thing” he said.
