Already involved in alleged rape case of a teenage girl, self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who is in Jodhpur jail, may have more problems as an FIR was lodged against him and his son Narayan Sai for sexual assaults on two sisters in Surat on Sunday.
The complainant two sisters alleged that they were raped between 2002 and 2004 in different ashrams of Asaram. The elder sister alleged that she was raped by Asaram at his Ahmedabad ashram while the younger one given a statement that she was sexually assaulted by his son in the Surat ashram. According to the victims, they were taken to various ashrams in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar and raped there as well.
looking to grave and serious allegations, Surat Police have filed cases under several Sections including 376. Surat Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that the rape case was transferred to Ahmedabad Police and in the other incident, Surat police is probing the matter.
Interestingly the complainant has also named Asaram’s wife and daughter in the FIR alleging that they were in the know of the sexual assaults that had taken place in the Ahmedabad ashram. When police questioned the complainants on the delays in filing the FIR, the two reportedly told the investigators that they had been too scared to lodge a complaint.
