A defiant Justice Ashok Ganguly accused of perpetrating a sexually unwelcome behaviour against a former law intern about a year ago on Thursday said he had not taken any decision regarding his resignation as the West Bengal Human Rights Commission Chairman notwithstanding indications by the Central Government to seek presidential reference on the issue.
The retired Supreme Court Judge on Thursday told a mediapersons that he “have seen media reports about my removal. (But) I have not taken any decision about resignation. I am watching the situation now.”
This even as insiders said the former Supreme Court Judge responsible for passing a host of judgments that has embarrassed the UPA Government had been preparing his legal papers and was in consultation with some of the senior advocates of the country.
Sources also said that the Centre had listed three cases against him. These include the sexual harassment case and the one relating to his visit to Pakistan without the permission of the Foreign
Ministry which was also raised by the Trinamool Congress Government of Bengal. Meanwhile, the Kolkata-based National University of Juridical Sciences Vice-Chancellor on Thursday said the institution had decided to snap its ties with the former Judge adding, “We have decided not to invite him for classes in our university,” adding other steps would be taken after the executive committee meeting.
