A Hyderabad court on Friday remanded the five terror suspects to 12 days’ custody of National Investigation Agency.

Third Metropolitan Sessions Judge, after hearing the arguments of the counsels for NIA as well as the defence on Friday passed the order remanding the five to NIA custody.

NIA had sought their custody for 30 days citing the gravity of the charges against them, including their plans to carry out terrorist attacks. However the judge did not agree with it.

The Judge said that the NIA officials could question them only in the presence of their advocates during the day time.

Armed with the court orders the NIA has taken the five people, belonging to Hyderabad, into their custody from Charapally Central Jail. They include Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani (30), Habeeb Mohammed (32), Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani (24), Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al Amoodi alias Fahad (31) and Muzaffar Hussain Rizwan (29).

The NIA had picked up 11 youth from different localities of Hyderabad in the wee hours of Wednesday for their alleged links with the terrorist organisation ISIS and plans to carry out terror strikes in the city. However six of them were later released while arresting the five.  NIA said that the group was in touch with a handler in Syria or Iraq and were about to carry out attacks in next few days.

NIA said that it recovered chemicals meant for making explosives, two pistols and an air gun.

About the `15 lakh recovered from Ilyas Yazdani’s house, the family members said that this belonged to his parents in law given to him for safe keeping.
