The Bihar Government’s Report Card 2016, which was scheduled to be released by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and leaders of Mahagathbandhan allies on November 20 to mark the completion of the first year of the Government could not be released with fanfare due to the Indore-Patna train accident near Kanpur. Instead, it was quietly made public on Monday by the Information Department and also uploaded on its website.
Since 2006, Nitish had made it routine to release the report card listing the achievements and works being done by various departments. Continuing the practice, this year too a big function had been organized on Sunday but in the morning the media was informed about the cancellation of the event due to the tragedy since many passengers killed in the accident belonged to Bihar.
The 142-page colourful report published in English, Hindi and Urdu, mainly highlighted the “Saat Nishchay” (seven resolves) of Nitish, the schemes also endorsed by two other allies RJD and Congress and included in the Programme of Good Governance and the report claimed that all the resolves have been implemented in a period of less than one year. The logo of seven resolves adorned each page.
“Along with all round development, we are determined to ensure mainstreaming of deprived sections of society. Reiterating our commitment to common programmes, the Mahagathband-han Government has formulated the Programme of Good Governance (2015-20). We remain resolute in our resolve to fulfill promises made to the people. We have started the implementation of 7 Nishchay programmes even before completion of one year,” said Nitish in the preface of the report.
