Vidhana Soudha, the seat of the State legislature of Karnataka in Bangalore will have a network firewall to stop its employees from watching pornography. The new Congress Government has in view of the complaints of its employees caught watching pornography on their official computers, has decided to build the network firewall.

According to Karnataka’s Information Technology Minister SR Patil, the employees in the hot seat were abusing the facility and that’s why he decided to firewall the systems in Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha. He said, “It was unfortunate that a section of employees in ‘the seat of power’ were abusing the facility. It is brought to my notice and I conducted meetings with senior officials to discuss ways to curb the menace. The firewall idea is an outcome of such meetings”.

According to State Information technology department, all connections, wired and wireless, will have firewalls that will specifically block any pornographic content. This is aimed at preventing employees at the Vidhana Soudha and the Vikasa Soudha from downloading or streaming porn. The move comes in the wake of reports on a secret CBI dossier to the

Criminal Investigation Department that the kar.nic.in IP was used frequently by the employees to view pornography. This is not the first such dossier to be sent about porn viewing on the Vidhana Soudha networks. According to IT department sources, the department has decided to build a firewall after three MlAs were caught on camera watching porn in the House. According to IT Minister Patil, this would be installed on computers in the Vidhana Soudha and the Vikasa Soudha in the first phase and would later be extended to Government offices in the

districts too.
