A major fire broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building “Mont Blanc” at Kemps Corner in south Mumbai on Friday evening.
The fire, which was noticed at around 7 pm, gutted a major portion of the 14th floor of the 26-storey building. The fire was extinguished by the city fire brigade personnel at around 10.30 pm. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the multiple cylinder bursts resulted in the fire on the 12th floor of “Mont Blanc” building.
The gas cylinders had been kept in the passageway of the affected floor. Before long, the fire spread to the entire 12th floor. However, the fire brigade personnel, who rushed to the scene within minutes, contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading to either the lower or upper floors of the building.
