Calling the ongoing feud within the Yadav family as a well-orchestrated drama to divert public attention from the failure of the SP Government, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday advised SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to “shun love for his son” and “to quit politics as it is the right time to retire”.
“It is better for the people of UP and best for the State that Mulayam Singh quits politics. The fight within the SP’s first family is due to selfish needs and nothing else,” she said.
She claimed there are dozens of people in the Yadav family who are active in politics and all have their ‘own personal interests’.
“Reports of intra-family feud keep on emanating from time to time. But at election time, it seems to be a well thought out script to divert public attention,” she asserted.
In a statement released after addressing a meeting of senior leaders at the State BSP headquarters in lucknow on Thursday, Mayawati said that the SP Government has failed in all sectors and now by pretending that there was a family dispute, the SP was only trying to deflect attention of the masses.
“The extraordinary love for his son by the SP chief is damaging the State and hence he should retire from politics,” she added. “The development of UP during the SP regime is merely on papers or through advertisements by misusing public funds. law and order in the state has worsened while all development works havecome to a standstill,” she alleged.
However, the BSP president also warned the BJP that they should not be too elated that the people of would only vote keeping in mind the SP regime’ failured.
“People will also give their mandate on the failures of the Modi government attheCentre while voting for the 2017 Assembly polls. The BJP would meet the same fate as the SP,” she claimed.
The former UP CM minister was also critical of the role of the Congress, who were making efforts by taking out Yatras to change their fortune at present.
“Congress is facing a difficult time. Their leaders are taking out Rathyatra, Padyatra and even Khat Yatra for revival. But these would not pay off as people have had enough of them for a fairly long time,” she commented.
Duirecting party workers, Mayawati said that the coming polls will be contested highlighting the ‘casteist, corrupt and wrong policies” of the SP regime. Besides, the failure of Narendra Modi government in ensuring ‘achchhe din’ and its ‘anti-poor and anti-farmer’ policies and patronage to extremist elements would also be highlighted,” she said.
She also told party leaders to ensure large number of supporters in the lucknow on October 9 next when the party observes the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram at his memorial on the Old Jail Road.
The BSP chief has been beaming with the presence of large number of supporters during her four rallies at Agra, Azamgarh, Allahabad and Saharanpur and thanked the party leaders and workers for their efforts.
