A man was arrested at Padappakkara near Kundara in Kerala’s Kollam district for raping his nine-year-old daughter and presenting her to his friends for sexual abuse. The four friends of the father who had raped the child have also been arrested.
The girl, a Class IV student, told the police that she was being sexually abused by her father, Babu, for the past two years. The sexual abuse by the father had started after the death of her mother, she said. The others arrested were identified as Baiju, Biju and Shaji and another man whom the child referred to as Uncle Veerappan has also been held.
The girl had told a woman in her neighbourhood two days back that her father had been sexually abusing her for the past two years and that she could not continue living in the house because this. The rapists were arrested after this woman informed the police about the atrocity. Rape was confirmed in a medical examination of the girl at a local hospital in Kundara.
Though the girl was admitted to a convent at Kottiyam in Kollam district after her mother’s death two years ago but the father continued abusing her whenever she reached home, she told the police.
He had abused her for the last time when she reached home last Thursday. It was after this the girl told the woman in the neighbourhood about her ordeal.
Meanwhile, the police at Kalpakanchery in Muslim-majority Malappuram district on Sunday registered a case against a man for forcing his 21-year-old wife to his friends to have sex with them.
The young woman, hailing from a poor family, said that her husband, Adul Razaq, used to hand over her to his friends for sexual abuse after making her drink intoxicants for money. According to her, Razaq’s mother and the wife of his elder brother had helped him sell her to his friends.
“He used to give me some fruit juice to drink and I would get dizzy once I drank it. After that, he would force me to share bed with his friends,” the woman said. When I objected to this, he said that he had my naked photographs with him and threatened to humiliate me by posting them on the Internet,” the woman said.
The woman also said that her husband had started to subject her to this torture from the third day of their marriage and that this had been going on for the past two years.
She said the police had asked her to settle the issue by accepting money from the husband when she approached them with a complaint for the first time.
