A ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ organised by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) at Jantar Mantar will hold ‘Yoga on Highways’ sessions on the highways in the country on June 21, International Yoga Day, to protest against the “inaction” on part of the Government in solving the agrarian crisis.

Farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have converged under the banner of BKU to stage protest against their poor condition.

According to BKU president Naresh Tikait, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform Yoga at lucknow stadium on International Yoga Day on June 21, farmers all over the country will block major highways between 9 am to 12 noon as a mark of protest. The farmers have decided to hold “Yoga on Highway” . The farmers would do ‘savasna’ (Savasana or Corpse Pose resembles the posture of a dead body and is, therefore, named after it) on major highways to block traffic.
