Changing their modus operandi, fake currency gangs started using women and children to circulate the fake currency notes. Members of the gangs, who target poor people from rural areas to materialise their nefarious plan, have also shifted their focus from cities to rural areas and towns.
According to Special Task Force (STF) sources, fatal method has caught up fast in recent past. Apart from it, gangs also replaced circulating fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 500, and Rs 1,000 with those of in the denomination of Rs 50, and Rs 100 in rural areas as people usually don’t check these notes thoroughly during transaction.
“There is a reason behind using the women and children for circulating the fake currency. Usually, nobody suspects them. And when a woman or child give a note in the denomination of Rs 50 or Rs 100, people take it and put that into the pocket without checking it,” the source added.
