Amidst the ongoing war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress over data leakage by Facebook, Congress MlC Deepak Singh alleged that some unknown persons were running his fake Facebook account and posting objectionable contents to defame his party. Singh informed the Superintendent of Police of Amethi, KK Gehlot, about the mischief and requested him to take action in the matter. When contacted by local mediapersons, the district police chief confirmed that he had received a complaint and a probe had been initiated and action would be taken if the charges were found to be true.
The Congress MlC said in lucknow on Wednesday that he was shocked to learn through friends that unknown persons were running his fake Facebook account and uploading objectionable contents. Singh said that he sent his personal assistant Rakesh Pathak to meet the SP and apprise him of the mischief and get the account blocked. It may be mentioned that earlier too, fake Facebook accounts of other leaders, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi, have surfaced. However, no serious action has been taken by the police so far in any case except in those where objectionable pictures of Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leaders were posted on Facebook, WhatsApp or other social sites.
