A woman was burnt alive allegedly by her brother-in-law after she objected to his lewd advances in Hardoi district.
Police said the incident occurred at Mandai locality in Bilgram area on Saturday night where Nitin Soni attempted to rape his 17-year-old sister-in-law on finding her alone. She had gone to meet her elder sister with whom Nitin is married.
The victim cried for help hearing which her elder sister reached the scene and opposed Nitin’s act. Irked over this, the accused thrashed his wife and locked her in a room.
later, Nitin poured kerosene on the victim and burnt her alive. The accused fled from the scene after the crime. The police said the victim had come to meet her sister one day ago. A case has been registered by victim’s father against his son-in-law.
