To make effective preparedness for the civic elections, scheduled early next year, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has cancelled leaves of the municipal employees and officers.
“With an aim to avoid any inconvenience to the people of the city during the preparatory phase of election procedure, the civic chief has cancelled leaves of the municipal employees and officers,” a civic official said on Monday.
There will be around 8,000 polling centres across the megapolis and to conduct the elections smoothly, BMC would need at least five employees at a polling centre, he said.
