The cry for free stationary and uniforms by students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) has led to a positive change in the national Capital as the Directorate of Education on Tuesday ordered all schools to enter the details of students admitted under EWS category on a link provided by the education department. The deadline given to the schools to complete this task is November 27. The education department has also provided the exact specifications to the schools on how to fill the data online.
This issue of not providing facilities to EWS students has been a long standing one. In August as well, in a strongly worded letter to heads of institutions, the Directorate of Education had asked all public and private schools of Delhi to give complete information of total number of children, who are admitted for the current academic year under EWS and disadvantaged group category. They had also been question on whether these students were provided free books and uniforms.
