Etawah, the home district of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has earned the unique distinction of having the most number of candidates who were elected unopposed to the posts of Member Kshetra panchayat. Of the total 586 wards in eight development blocks of Etawah as many as 120 were elected unopposed. Incidentally, all belong to the ruling Samajwadi party.
In Azamgarh district - the lok Sabha constituency of the SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, 55 members of the Kshetra panchayat from 8 blocks were elected unopposed. Here too, the similarity was errie as all the ‘winners’ are from the ruling SP.
