MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment takes charge today
Jharkhand’s lone representative in PM Narendra Modi’s Council of Ministers Sudarshan Bhagat was allotted the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment to work as a Minister of State (MoS) on Tuesday making it clear for the young tribal leader that he has to continue working for the betterment of the alienated and downtrodden sections of the society as he did earlier in his political career.
While many of his colleagues took charge of their respective departments, Bhagat will assume charge of office on Wednesday after some official formalities are completed.
Talking to The Pioneer over phone from Delhi, the soft spoken minister sounded confident yet determined to work with full energy with the PM’s team.
On being asked as to how he felt being chosen in the Modi team Bhagat said, “I have got a great opportunity to work with the PM’s team and at the same time I have been entrusted with huge responsibility by the party.
I have always tried to discharge my duties as a loyal worker of the party. Even in the capacity of a minister at the Centre I will continue to work in tandem with my colleagues and deliver the best on my part. Since I am the only minister representing the State, I will try to live upto the expectations of people of Jharkhand.”
“Delivering social justice to the people and empowering the poor and the needy citizens of the country is a vast area in itself. I will try to put in my experience of working for the tribal population in Jharkhand in the coming days. My priority would be to work for those sections of society that have been ignored since decades and alienated from the rest of the country,” he added.
