Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that only education could be the panacea for all the sections of the people specially the backward classes. Addressing the national executive of All India Yadav Mahasabha in Hyderabad on Sunday, Yadav said that his Government in Uttar Pradesh is according top priority to the social sectors like education and health in steering the State on the path of progress.
Giving the example of free laptops scheme for the students, he said that it had brought a major change in the field of education. Talking over the empowerment and uplift of the backward classes, he said that members of Yadav community were there in all the political parties. “We should work with unity in the social sectors”, he said. However, he avoided making any political comments saying, “this is not the place to talk politics”.
The meeting, where Akhilesh Yadav was felicitated by other leaders, was attended by backward class leaders like State Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, Congress MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and former Minister and Telugu Desam Party leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Refusing to term the Samajwadi Party as the party of backward classes, Akhilesh said that the party was working for the development of entire Uttar Pradesh with the support of all the sections of the society. “The SP came to power in Uttar Pradesh with the support of all the social groups,” he said.
Earlier Yadav met important political leaders of the State cutting across the party lines. They include the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Tourism Minister Chiranjeevi.
While his meeting with Naidu sparked off speculations of a third front at the national level, Yadav himself did not appear too enthusiastic about it. “It is premature to talk of a third front now,” he said. He was, however, appreciative of Chandrababu Naidu for announcing 100 Assembly tickets to the backward classed. “It will be beneficial for the backward classes,” he said. In the meeting with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy he discussed various welfare schemes of the State Government for the backward classes.
