ED to question Sonia in National Herald case today

Published on:

With Congress president Sonia Gandhi set to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper, the Congress has geared up for protests against the move.

The party has reached out to other Opposition parties requesting them to show solidarity. MPs of the Congress may stage a protest in Parliament while senior party leaders will assemble at the AICC headquarters, 24, Akbar Road.

At a meeting of Opposition leaders on Monday, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Jairam Ramesh requested other Opposition parties to join the July 21 protest.

The Congress’ call may gain traction as other Opposition leaders like Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena are also facing probes by the Central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
