The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday raided a number of business addresses in Kolkata pertaining to businessman tycoon Parasmal lodha who was arrested last week for allegedly converting black money worth crores.

The ED officials raided lodha’s Ballygunge residence and offices at SN Roy Road in Behala and New Alipore and seized documents “relevant” in the case.

Sources also said sustained interrogation of the arrested businessman revealed that he had “done the job” (of converting black money into white) for a number of politicians including some heavyweights from Bengal capital.

“His statements might not augur well for some top politicians including Trinamool Congress leaders” insiders said.

lodha, who according to media reports, had tried to forcefully takeover of the Peerless Finance company at the behest of an underworld don has stakes in hotel, finance and real estate business. Such was his political clout and muscle power that he was even named nicknamed “additional floor lodha” in Kolkata for his ability to look right through legal provisions and construct additional floors to existing buildings.

Meanwhile, inside sources said at least three Trinamool Congress politicians including a Minister who also holds another very important post could be in problem for getting their invalid tenders converted into legal tender.

“Several crores had been transferred through hawala and many more cores belonging to these netas have been rendered white through him” a senior Congress MlA who claimed to “know quite a few of them” alleged.
