The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday arrested Punjab-based businessman Gautam Malhotra, son of former Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Deep Malhotra in connection with its ongoing probe into Delhi excise policy scam and in a money laundering case.
In the same case, the CBI has also arrested a Hyderabad-based Chartered Accountant Butchibabu Gorantla, for his alleged role in formulation and implementation of the now scrapped Delhi Excise Policy.
Gorantla is said to be a former auditor of BRS MLC K Kavitha.
The CBI had called Gorantla to the national capital for questioning in the case. He was questioned 15 times between August and October last year at the agency's offices in New Delhi and Hyderabad.
The agency also questioned Gorantla from February 1 to 4 this year and confronted him with the available evidence.
