The Catholic Church in Kerala has issued a pastoral letter asking the faithful to vote in the 2014 lok Sabha election for those who are against the K Kasturirangan committee recommendations for the protection of the Western Ghats and not to support those stand for the protection of the environment by neglecting the mankind.
The pastoral letter prepared by the Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council, which would be read in all parish churches in the State on March 9 states, “We should be able to elect those who can end forever the anxiety of the Keralites living on the coasts and the high ranges. Catholics are people who consider protection of environment as part of their life. But we should be able to correct approaches that are aimed at protecting the flora and fauna by neglecting human beings.”
