There are more attacks on the Election Commission officials in Bengal. After Habra, Howrah and Malda, where alleged Trinamool workers attacked the election officials, it was Salboni in West Midnapore that witnessed a similar attack on poll officials engaged in recoding election rallies on Saturday.

Sources said unidentified miscreants on Saturday attacked election officials video-graphing the road show of CPI candidate Prabodh Panda at Salboni block. While local BDO Jayanta Biswas said the Commission was trying to identify the attackers, Panda, a sitting MP  blamed the Trinamool Congress for the attacks that saw two poll officials badly bruised and the window panes of their car smashed.

“The Commission has taken a strong view of the attack and a report has already been sent to the higher authorities,” said the BDO adding, “After the attackers are identified, stringent action would be taken against them.”Earlier similar attacks were mounted by the Trinamool men at Habra in North 24 Parganas where a BDO was heckled, Howrah and Malda.
