The Election Commission of India on Friday received fresh load of complaints against parties for allegedly violating the election campaign guidelines. Two days after the verbal attack on the Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde by television anchor Rajeev laxman while supporting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Shazia Ilmi at RK Puram constituency, a complaint has been filed with the ECI seeking registration of FIR against Ilmi, laxman and other supporters present at the party campaign on Wednesday. laxman, twin-brother of MTV Roadies' man Raghu Ram, had used objectionable words against Shinde on a public platform while campaigning for AAP. However, a few hours later, laxman and the party issued an apology for the same.

Another complaint received by the ECI alleged cruelty to animals by a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate. A candidate of the BSP from Vishwas Nagar constituency was found riding a bullock cart on his way to file nominations on Thursday soon after which the ECI received a complaint against him for cruelty on animals. An advisory issued by the ECI in 2012, "Political parties and candidates should refrain from using any animals for election campaign in any manner."

In a speedy disposal of complaints received in a span of 40 days, the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) in the Capital has redressed around 5,800 complaints out of nearly 6,000 complaints pertaining to illegal practices ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls. Only 25 complaints remain pending for over 24 hours, for which, the CEO on Friday instructed the Returning Officers of all the districts to take action immediately.
