Earring taken out from kid's windpipe

A team of doctors from a leading charitable hospital in the city saved the life of a 12-month-old child by removing a 2-inch long earring stuck in her windpipe, through a bronchoscopy.

As she turned one year on Thursday last, Khushi Soni had caused panic within her family, by swallowing a 2 inch long earring with a pointed end. The earring, struck in her windpipe, resulted in breathing problems for the child.

Her parents initially took Khushi to a paediatrician who prescribed her some medicines, but these failed to give relief. She was later admitted to a government where the doctors failed to remove the earring embedded in her throat.

After condition turned critical, Khushi was admitted to a private hospital and was later moved to Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, where the doctors on Saturday last performed a Bronchoscopy and

successfully removed the earring from her throat within minutes within minutes of her admission.
