Durbar Move Offices located inside civil secretariat complex — the seat of power of Jammu & Kashmir Government — reopened in Jammu on Monday amidst series of protest demonstrations during the day long bandh call extended by various opposition parties against the BJP-PDP alliance Government.
Bar Association of Jammu, traders, transporters and several other socio-politico organisations had supported the bandh call to register their anger against the alliance Government as they claimed they have failed to abolish toll pax even after switching over to GST regime and failure to announce State holiday on the occasion of birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Normal life also remained crippled across Jammu as public transport remained off the road while main markets wore deserted look in response to the bandh call. Educational institutions located in the old city area also observed shut down to ensure safety of school going children.
Soon after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's cavalcade reached civil secretariat complex residency road was taken over by supporters of Congress and National Conference as they took out separate protest rally shouting anti-Government slogans.
JKPCC Chief GA Mir and National Conference Provincial Preisdent DS Rana led these protest rallies. National Conference and Congress leaders later courted arrest as district administration had imposed Section 144 of CrPc and prevent them from moving closer to the civil secretariat complex.
Meanwhile J&K Panthers Party led by its chairman Harshdev Singh also held a separate rally to protest policies of the PDP-BJP coalition Government in Jammu & Kashmir.
Inside civil secretariat complex Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was accorded warm reception after she inspected impressive guard of honour. She avoided formal interaction with the media on the occasion.
later she attended separate meetings with the administrative secretaries and council of Ministers in her office secretariat. She directed all the administrative secretaries to ensure that the budgetary allocations to their respective departments are fully utilised by the end of current fiscal and in no case should any funds revalidation or lapses be allowed to happen.
