The Dumka district administration has distributed tractors and modern agricultural implements to 14 self-help groups (SHGs), Sakhi Mandals and farmer groups under the Mukhyamantri Tractor Vitran Yojana to promote farm mechanisation and improve rural livelihoods.
The distribution was organised by the District Soil Conservation Office for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26. Deputy Development Commissioner Aniket Sachan handed over the keys and sanction documents to the beneficiary groups.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Sachan said modern agricultural machinery could help increase farm productivity, reduce labour requirements and improve farmers' incomes. He cited implements such as rotavators and cultivators, which reduce the time and effort required for field preparation.
He also urged the beneficiary groups to ensure transparent collective management of the machinery, maintain proper accounts of earnings from renting it out and set aside funds for regular maintenance and servicing.
Under the scheme, the 14 selected groups from different blocks of Dumka district received tractors of varying capacities along with implements, including rotavators, cultivators and cage wheels, according to their agricultural requirements.
The equipment has a combined market value of ₹1,18,43,909, while the state government provided a subsidy of ₹63,21,570.
The administration said the initiative would enable women-led self-help groups and farmer collectives to generate additional income by providing machinery on a rental basis. The scheme is also intended to expand access to modern farming technology and strengthen the financial independence of rural communities.
