Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday warned the left and the BJP for not mistaking her “political decency as political weakness” and asked them not to foment trouble in her State “for narrow political mileage”.

The Chief Minister, whose Trinamool Congress has come under sustained attack from the Opposition for increasing political violence in Bengal, said, “the CPI(M) and the BJP have colluded in Bengal to gain narrow political mileage by fomenting violence. But they should not take my political decency as political weakness. Strong actions will be taken against those who create violence in Bengal.”

The Chief Minister also alleged that the “BJP is trying to capture power in Bengal by destablising the State which we will not tolerate. Strong actions will be taken against them who will try to foment violence in Bengal.”

Reacting rather sharply to her statements senior State BJP leader Tathagato Roy wondered as to why the Chief Minister was so much tense about the BJP when according to her it was not at all a force to reckon with in the State. “If she feels that the BJP is not at all a force to reckon with then why is she so much concerned about its political activities here,” he asked.

Meanwhile, a cluster of left and Trinamool supporters of West Midnapore would join the BJP on Monday, party sources said adding the Opposition supporters would join the BJP in presence of State president Rahul Sinha.
