Doing Yoga, performing namaz same thing: Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that ‘yoga’ and performing ‘namaz’ were almost similar yet till 2014, Yoga was usually referred to as a Hindu practice.

“If you perform ‘surya namaskar’ while performing Yoga or offering ‘namaz’, one will find that they were almost similar exercises,” asserted Yogi while saying that people who believe on ‘bhog’, how can have faith in ‘Yog’. Yogi made the comments while participating in UP Yoga Mahotsav at Indira Ghandhi Pratisthan on Wednesday afternoon.

He said that Yoga gave mental and physical strength to every person and one could remain fit till late age, irrespective of his caste or religion. He said that Baba Ramdev had taken Yoga to every home while Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gave it recognition and now let the people decide who was ‘communal’.

Yogi also claimed that he had just one pair of clothes when he was asked to take charge as chief minister of the State. “When Amit Shah asked me to take charge as CM, I had just one pair of clothes with me. But I did not run away from the responsibility,” revealed Yogi.

Claiming to have travelled the entire State and knowing the ‘disease’ ailing the State, Yogi said that he would get the state cured even if he had to take harsh decisions. “Moves like demonetisation could be only made by honest leadership,” he pointed out.

The CM claimed that the motherland was above everything and said, “In the coming time, India will be seen as leading the world.” Without naming any party, Yogi said that even after ruling the country for the last 70 years, they failed to give a single university which ranks amongst the top 100 universities of the world. He said that he learnt a positive approach to life from PM Narendra Modi and found that only through this could the country grow.

Baba Ramdev, who accompanied the CM, said that the people of Uttar Pradesh and the CM were ‘Yogi’. Pointing towards Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma, Ramdev said that Yoga should be made part of education system in UP and that Sanskrit Education Board as well as Sanskrit University should be opened in the State.

Sharma later assured that June 21 will be observed as ‘World Yog Day’ in colleges and university and that he would speak to Chief Minister on opening of a Sanskrit University. He also assured that they will make RsYoga’ part of Education System in UP.

During the three-day workshop on RsYoga is Medicine’ organised at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan, Baba Ramdev will teach Yoga and the entry to the workshop is free. Earlier Baba Ramdev visited the CM’s residence and met Yogi Aditya Nath before proceding to the workshop.
