Following a court order, the Gurugram police booked a veterinary doctor and attendant/compounder for negligence that led to the death of two stray pet dogs belonging to a Sector-56 residence in Gurugram.
The complainant Anees Rahil, of Sector-56 in Gurugram, who is also a owner of the dogs stated in her police complaint that in May 2020, she had visited the pet hospital located in the same vicinity along with a female dog after her health deteriorated.
"At the hospital, Dr. Dangi assured the complainant that her dog is undernourished and would recover soon, later the dog was referred to 'Animalia Veterinary Policy clinic' Sector-47 for ultrasound and X-rays. Thereafter the dog was admitted at the doctor's hospital for further treatment," the complainant alleged in her complaint.
On 25 May 2020, the complainant again brought her male dog as he was too looking unwell.
"The dog was taken to the same hospital at that day the doctor was not available but in his absence the compounder Anup Singh started treating the dog and gave him some drugs and injected him," the complainant told the police.
She then went home and later got a call from the hospital that the dog had passed away. A few hours later, a call from the hospital again that her female dog had expired too.
The complainant alleged that when she had visited the hospital to fetch the dog's body she was shocked as it was kept outside the hospital tied up in a plastic bag despite the fact that the dog was in a breathing state. She called for help but in the meantime, the dog passed away.
The complainant alleged that the dogs died due to negligence by the doctor and the compounder of the hospital. "Dr. Dangi was not registered with Haryana Veterinary Council as per the norms of Indian Veterinary Council and Haryana State Veterinary Council. Animal Husbandry department, Gurugram in his letter to Deputy Director Animal Husbandry has also recommended revocation of license of the alleged doctor for a period of six months" the complainant told the police.
A case under relevant sections of the IPC and Section 11 (4) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act was registered against Doctor Rahul Dangi and compounder Anup Singh of 'ARD pet hospital' at Sector-56 police station, the police said.
