A car belonging to a doctor ran berserk at the Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday, injuring six persons, including three patients.

Police said accident occurred on Thursday when plastic surgeon Dr Rehan Qureshi arrived for morning duty and handed over the keys of his Chevrolet car to a security guard Shivraj to park the car.

Apparently the car went out of control as the guard did not know how to drive and ran into the people sitting on the hospital pavement.

A 95-year-old patient Mohammed Omer was seriously injured as his leg was crushed by the car. The other victims include a heart patient Qamar Begum, Md Iqbal, Vijay and Mallesh. All the injured were immediately shifted inside the hospital for treatment. While the two were admitted four others were discharged after treatment.

Afzalgunj police inspector Praveen Kumar said a case of negligence was registered and the guard was taken into custody. A ClUES team was investigating the accident.

Dr Rehan told the police that Shivraj had come forward to take the car keys and he gave it to him thinking he was on duty of parking the cars.

“We had come here for treatment not to get killed,” Injured Qamar Begum’s daughter shouted. Relatives of the victims demanded that the cost of the treatment of the injured be borne by the hospital or the Government.
