Delhi Noida Delhi (DND) flyway, which connects Noida to South Delhi, was observed toll-free for five hours on Sunday. The toll was free as Janhit Morcha protested at the DND flyway and demanding the removal of the toll tax.
Under the leadership of former BJP minister Nawab Singh Nagar, protest was being held against the irregularities of Noida Toll Bridge Company limited (NTBCl) and its consequent victimisation of the residents of Noida.
The former Minister has accused the authorities of misrepresenting facts regarding the money spent on the project and demanded that the toll be made toll-free. “DND organisation has made more money than was spent,” said the Minister.
Every day, 1.25 lakh cars pass the flyover and `40 lakh is the per day income of DND. Minister also blamed to the Samajwadi Party Government for not taking any action as most of the tolls have been removed across the country where the builders of the toll roads have collected their value.
Other organisations including Crime-Free India Force, Noida Entrepreneurs Association, several residents' welfare associations, Kisan Union, Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, Noida Transport Association, Indian Industries Association, Punjabi Samaj, Deed Writers Association and Noida Vyapar Mandal participated in the protest.
