A Surat-based diamond firm, Hari Krishna Exports, made its loyal employees’ Diwali full of lights by announcing jewellery, 491 Fiat Punto cars and 200 two-bedroom flats as bonus.
The company management has decided to give cars, houses and jewellery to its 1,200 employees as reward for their contribution to the company’s development. With this gesture, the company also set an example for companies across the country to share profits with employees who toil hard for the interest of their organisation.
Talking to The Pioneer, chairman & managing director of Hari Krishna Exports Savji Dholakia confirmed the development saying the company management took the decision to recognise excellent performance of employees for the past five years, who also remained loyal to the company.
The Rs 5,000 crore firm, established in 1991, implemented a loyalty programme and as part of it, out of 6,000 employees, 1,200 employees got Diwali bonus. The company, however, didn’t forget the rest of the employees as they too received hefty Diwali bonus and New Year gifts (Gujarati New Year starts from the next day of Diwali).
Fifty-year-old Dholakia, who started as a worker in the diamond polishing firm at the tender age of 12 years after he shifted from Dudhala village in Amreli district, went on to become a business tycoon. According to him, his company gave Rs 50 crore as bonus to the employees who contributed to the tremendous growth of the company for the last five years. The company also has a presence in Belgium, Hong Kong and England apart from Surat and Mumbai.
“We believe that our company is in social business. By announcing flats and cars, the company has not favoured the employees, but has given them their rights. They are the shareholders of the company, who worked to take the firm a long way, even beyond the boundaries of India,” said the CMD.
He further said that the company management collected data of all the employees and based on it flats were given to them who do not have their own houses, cars given to them who own a house but do not have cars and jewellery given to those who have both. Some other exotic gifts have also been given to other employees as routine Diwali bonus, he added.
