In a setback to Telangana Rashtra Samiti, a senior party leader and former MP Ramesh Rathod has quit the party and joined the main Opposition Congress party.
Rathod was angry on not getting the Assembly election ticket from his home constituency Khanapur in Nirmal district.
Ramesh along with his wife Suman joined the Congress party in Hyderabad in presence of AICC secretary RC Kuntia.
Speculations were rife for quite some time that Rathode was on his way out from TRS after his supporters had organized a big protest demonstration in Khanapur and Rathod issued warning to the TRS leader. A tribal leader Rathod and his family was quite influential in the area.
With this he has completed the round of joining all the three major parties in the state. He started his career with the Telugu Desam party where starting from the grass root he worked his up to become party’s politburo and was elected to Lok Sabha from Adilabad.
But after his defeat in the last elections he joined the ruling TRS along with another senior TDP leader Tummala Nageshwara Rao and was working hard to cultivate the constituency. However in the list of TRS candidates announced by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao he failed to find a place and the ticket was given to Rekha Naik.
Rathod was confident that on Congress ticket will emerge victorious from his constituency and the party will come to power in the next elections.
