Disappointing, directionless: Siddaramaiah

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is also the Finance Minister of the State, termed the Union Budget 2018 as disappointing, directionless and aimed at next lok Sabha elections. In a media briefing at Bengaluru Siddaramaiah said the Modi Government has made several false promises to woo voters ahead of 2019 elections.

He said, “The Budget has not come to the rescue of farmers, who were under severe financial distress owing to crop loss and decline in the commodity prices.

“Budget has refrained from announcing short-term crop loan waiver and not provided relief to farmers. Budget is not growth oriented. It has no focus on accelerating the farm growth rate”.

The Chief Minister said the Budget presented did not mention about the  implementation of Swaminathan Committee report to safeguard the interests of the farmers.
