Dinner for PM cancelled at Sushil Modi's request: Nitish

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday asked the BJP leadership that if they felt so hurt with the cancellation of the dinner by him in April 2010 which was to be attended by Narendra Modi, why  did they not scrap the alliance with him and preferred to go to 2010 Assembly polls in  alliance with him.

On the cancellation of the dinner for the leaders of the BJP, which had also been referred to by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during one of his recent rallies in Bihar, Nitish made a new revelation that he had cancelled the dinner at the request of his then deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi. “It was Sushil Modi who first requested me to host the dinner and it was the same person who came requesting for cancellation on the plea that Narendra Modi would not attend it,” he revealed.

The CM said since it was not an official dinner it had been organised by the JD(U) and everything had been prepared including the food. “The party suffered a huge loss of money due to cancellation. A huge and beautiful pandal was erected and varieties of foods were cooked,” said Nitish and added, “Narendra Modi knows Sushil Modi very well and I am told that Narendra Modi does not forget anything.”

Replying to questions related to the over five-year- old issue asked at a election related programme hosted by a TV news channel here Nitish even claimed that one of the persons who was involved in the preparations of the dinner and knows how it was cancelled was present at the programme venue and the matter could be verified from him. However, he did not identify the person.
